Doug Hausladen: New Haven Parking Authority

Douglas Hausladen is the Executive Director of the New Haven Parking Authority (Park New Haven), where he oversees the management of Union and State Street Stations, Ride New Haven public bike share, and all public parking facilities in New Haven, Connecticut. With certifications as a CAPP & CPP, Parksmart, and League Cycling Instructor, Doug brings a wealth of expertise in mobility and urban planning. His focus is on enhancing community access by innovating government service delivery to elevate opportunities and improve the quality of life for residents.

In 2014, Doug stepped down from his elected position on the Board of Alders and was appointed by New Haven Mayor Toni Harp as Director of Transportation. During his tenure, he spearheaded the development of Connecticut’s pioneering bicycle infrastructure, successfully planned for a $150 million bus rapid transit system, and launched the nation’s first competitive marketplace for mobile on-street parking payments.

Doug's commitment to public service extends through his roles on various boards and committees. He is an appointed member of the Connecticut Public Transportation Council and the Greater New Haven Transit District. Additionally, he serves on the New Haven Climate Emergency Taskforce, appointed by Mayor Justin Elicker, and chairs the board of the New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation, an organization dedicated to teaching bicycle education in primary and secondary schools. His board memberships also include the Canal Dock Boathouse Inc, New Haven Road Race, Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade, New England Parking Council, and Shoreline Greenway Trail.

Originally from the Kentucky side of Cincinnati, Doug earned his degree in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University and has been a dedicated coach for the university’s club Water Polo team since graduating in 2004. Recognized by Connecticut Magazine as a “40 Under 40” honoree in 2022, Doug remains deeply committed to making a lasting impact in his home city of New Haven and beyond.
